To request an event posting, send an e-mail to webmaster@bikewalkconnecticut.org. Make sure to include the title of your event, a short description (approx. 25-50 words), the date/time, and location. A link and/or e-mail contact for details, directions, registration, etc. is highly recommended.  Events should be cycling-related and must be non-commercial and non-political. 

Bike To Work - UConn Health Center - Farmington 07/30/2010 @ 06:30 AM


Save some gasoline, burn some calories!!   On Friday morning, July 30th from 6:30 – 8:30 am.  we will have a table with biking information and breakfast snacks at the University of Connectict Health Center police station entrance next to the bike racks, which is to the east of the Academic Entrance.   If you need further information please feel free to contact Joyce Fritz 860-877-3751 or email publichealth@uchc.edu. Don’t forget you can include your bike miles in the No Better Place Just Move log.  A rain date is set for Monday, August 2.

Traffic Skills 101 Class 08/01/2010 @ 08:30 AM


Traffic Skills 101 (formerly known as Road 1) is an 8 hour class that covers bike handling skills, crash avoidance techniques, proper lane and intersection positioning in moderate to heavy traffic and CT traffic law as it pertains to bicyclists. The class also covers basics on how to dress for your cycling activity, what equipment you might need, nutrition, and hydration for the longer ride, and bicycle maintenance. CT Tour Des Farms 08/01/2010 @ 08:30 AM


CT Folk's Tour des Farms is a 25-mile leisure bicycle ride to  farms, greenhouses and orchards in Hamden, Cheshire and North Haven.  Duration: 9:30 am - 4 pm with farm stops en route, or set your own pace. Registration at 8:30 am at 2901 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT (the parking lot of the Hamden public library). Adult pre-registration is $35. Join Bike Walk Connecticut for a 10 or 25 mile bike ride of Hartford's beautiful parks and vibrant and diverse neighborhoods or chose from four different one hour walking tours of historic Downtown.  This is a pro-fun anti-sprawl, anti-pollution, anti-couch potato biking and walking event.

The Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour is back by popular demand!  After a one year absence, the people have clamored for the return of the Tour. Saturday, September 11, 2010 will be the 3rd Discover Hartford Bicycling & Walking Tour.    Registration begins at 7 a.m.  The Bike Tour starts at 9:15 a.m. on Elm Street in Bushnell Park.  The Walking Tour begins at 9:30 a.m. hosted by the Hartford Preservation Alliance.  All Tours start and end in Bushnell Park.  Registration includes a great t-shirt, a route map, refreshment stops with fruit, energy bars and water.  SAG wagons will be available to pick up the weary or those with mechanical problems.  A helmet fitting booth and bike mechanics will be on-site.  Early Bird Registration offered. Pedal for Paws is a ride to benefit Forgotten Felines, a no-kill shelter in Westbrook, CT.  There will be 10-, 25-, 35-, and 50-mile routes through Connecticut's picturesque shoreline area, touring the Atlantic coastline and Connecticut River with spectacular autumn views. The ride will start and finish at the industrial park in Old Saybrook, offering several rest stops and a lunch at the end of the ride. Cue sheets will be provided. . New England Bike-Walk Summit 10/07/2010 @ 08:00 AM


The first-ever New England Bike-Walk Summit will be held Thursday, October 7, in downtown Providence, R.I.  Topics will include: development/management of multi-jurisdictional trails, the economic development potential of biking and walking, state-level legislation affecting biking and walking in New England, how to foster better relations between agencies and advocates, and more.  This regional event should also lead to better relationships and more cooperation among the states.  The call for papers is now open.  Click here for more details
