Bike Week 2010 - May 17-21

Bike Walk Connecticut will join cyclists and cycling advocates nationwide with a Bike Week celebration May 17-21, 2010.  Keep checking this space for additions and updates

Mon. May 17, 6:30 - 9:00 AM -  Bike to Work, UConn Health Center, Farmington.  UConn Health Center Police Station entrance at the bike racks, to the right of the academic entrance.  Rain date Fri. the 21st.

Tue. May 18, 5:30 - 7:30 PM - Bike To DinnerPlan B Burger, 138 Park Road, West Hartford, (860) 231-1199.  Don't worry if you don't like burgers;  they have other great entrees and salads, plus a large beer selection.  Bring front and rear lights for ride home just in case.  RSVP (even if tentative) to Alan Blasenstein: webmaster@connbikes.org.

Wed. May 19, 7:00 PM - Ride of Silence - One of many such rides nationwide.  Meet at Elizabeth Park, Pond House (West Hartford).

Thur. May 20 12:  Noon - Rally at the Capitol.  Join your legislators, fellow walkers, and companion cyclists on the North Steps of the Capitol to demonstrate the importance of biking and walking to a healthy, environmentally sound, and fun Connecticut.  Flyer

Fri. May 21 7:00 - 9:00 AM - Bike to Work, downtown Hartford (location: Old State House). May have a guest speaker. A light breakfast will be served.
.Show solidarity (and have fun!) by riding in with one of several groups that will be converging on downtown Hartford Friday morning:

From Wethersfield: Meet Ben Bare and Kevin Sullivan at the corner of Wolcott Hill Rd. and Cumberland Ave., 7:15 AM
From West Hartford: Meet David Ringquist at the Pond House at Elizabeth Park, 7:15 AM.

Anyone who participates in a Bike Week event sponsored by Bike Walk Connecticut will be included in a drawing for prizes both during Bike Week and as part of the Bike Everywhere drawings through the year.
